Knocks Me Off My Feet – Stevie Wonder

It is true that Songs in the Key of Life is the best album by Stevie Wonder and for me his best song is one of the tracks from this album called Knocks Me Off My Feet. I was still very young when I first heard of and fell for this song. Love in first listen one may say. I don’t have a good technical knowledge in music but as a listener I sure have the gut feel for what I like just like any one else. The intro is uniquely familiar and the opening verse evokes a narrative of memories of Summer days, which may not necessarily be personal anyway, but you just have to go along with the lyrics and they strike you one way or another. Then the final strike is the refrain. The melody is simply fantastically beautiful it makes me equate it to The Beatles’ Here, There and Everywhere – both songs almost incomparable. The way Stevie delivers the song is flawless. All in all, I succumb, it is too personal for me.

“Knocks Me Off My Feet”
I see us in the park

Strolling the summer days of imaginings in my head

And words from our hearts
Told only to the wind felt even without being said
I don’t want to bore you with my trouble
But there’s sumptin’ ’bout your love
That makes me weak and
Knocks me off my feet

There’s sumptin’ ’bout your love
That makes me weak and
Knocks me off my feet
Knocks me off my feet

I don’t want to bore you with it
Oh but I love you, I love you, I love you
I don’t want to bore you with it
Oh but I love you, I love you, I love you
More and more

We lay beneath the stars
Under a lovers tree that’s seen through the eyes of my mind
I reach out for the part
Of me that lives in you that only our two hearts can find
But I don’t want to bore you with my trouble
But there’s sumptin’ ’bout your love
That makes me weak and
Knocks me off my feet

There’s sumptin’ ’bout your love
That makes me weak and
Knocks me off my feet
Knocks me off my feet

I don’t want to bore you with it
Oh but I love you, I love you, I love you
I don’t want to bore you with it
Oh but I love you, I love you, I love you
I don’t want to bore you with it
Oh but I love you, I love you, I love you
Darling I don’t want to bore you with it
Oh but I love you, I love you, I love you
I don’t want to bore you with it
Oh but I love you, I love you, I love you
Darling I don’t want to bore you with it
Oh but I love you, I love you, I love you
