Janis Joplin

Watching a couple of rockumentaries on Janis urged me to turn to youtube and see some of her performances. Wow, she just gives new life to every song she takes on. To Love Somebody, she could easily own with her version.

A Piece of My Heart gives us the classic Janis. This song catapulted her to famedom.

Monterey Rock Festival introduced Janis to the world of pop music. Here’s Janis with Ball and Chain that basically dwarfed other artists in the fest except Jimi Hendrix. Monterey paved the way for several artists apart from Janis and Jimi. One is Ravi Shankar, and to a degree, the Grateful Dead.

Now all-time favorite from her.

  1. I love Janis Joplin. There’s a song she sang called, “work me lord” I thought is was a powerful, emotional and spiritual performance of the song. I felt every word in the song

      1. I may have heard this before, because I used to listen to Janis in the 1990s, but it may not have registered unlike her other more popular songs until you pointed it out
