Pure Ram

tim-christensen-pure-mccartney-japan-cd-dvd-h40-zd-bac7478a9483596000dd3de0a789fea0What a treat! Stumbled on this while looking for the Pure McCartney VR. Pure 79 minutes of fun. And what a feat! – playing the whole Ram album in celebration of the 70th birthday of Sir Paul McCartney on June 18, 2012. Mike Viola, Tracy Bonham and Tim Christenten. Highlights? Every song was well covered, Uncle Albert, Too Many People, Heart of the Country, Monkberry Moon Delight, Long Haired Lady & of course, The Back Seat of My Car. Just fantastic.

After the Ram album live cover, the group proceeded to Venus and Mars/Rockshow medley. Mike Viola is just too good. Coming Up followed it. Another great performance from this tight one-night band. The Danish crowd was so supportive throughout.

Then the last segment – Live and Let Die, Maybe I’m Amazed, Junk, Band On The Run.

Wiki:Pure McCartney contains a recording of a one-off tribute concert at Vega in Copenhagen in celebration of Sir Paul McCartney‘s 70th birthday that day.

Bassist Søren Koch of Dizzy Mizz Lizzy once saw Viola play in New York, and thought that he had a strong musical match with Christensen, so he introduced them. Christensen and Viola found out that the 1971 McCartney album Ram is their mutual favorite album, so that it became the heart of the set list alongside several other post-Beatles songs. Vega’s large concert hall, with a capacity of 1500, was sold out. The artwork was inspired by Ram.
