I have limited knowledge on the business of TV programs. I would not know if one deserves another chance to expand its story or lead it to the desired or inevitable conclusion. After all, some of them are (loosely) based on books earlier written. In the case of Sun Records, a new series with recently concluded Season 1, it is Million Dollar Quartet written by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux.
A look at its viewing audience statistics, compared for example with dwindling viewers such as Blindspot, Sun Records would not even make it to the negotiation table for another season. But I would not know. It may belong to another company that may give it another eight-episode concluding season to show how the famous quartet was finally ever assembled.
I did enjoy the maiden season really. I hope for another one.
